Chris Castaneda

Drums, Guitar & Piano Instructor

Chris Castaneda is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist with more than 30 years in the music industry. A self-taught musician from Waco, Texas, he specializes in guitar, percussion, and performance. By age 13, Chris had formed the family band Pride and Joy, serving as its frontman and guitarist while touring nationally and recording original rock and blues albums.

After discovering a passion for percussion, Chris joined his high school marching band on multi-tenors and became section leader. That experience earned him a band scholarship to Prairie View A&M University, where he received his first formal music training under Professor George Edwards.

Chris began teaching immediately after college, returning to his high school as a percussion instructor and assistant. He later worked with schools throughout Texas as a consultant and assistant for marching and jazz bands. His experience also spans production, recording technology, songwriting, and live performance.

Chris considers facilitating growth to be his greatest gift. He approaches every teaching and learning opportunity with patience, understanding, and, most importantly, fun.
